Various classes have been covering the strand Materials recently.

Senior Infants discovered that by mixing vinegar and baking soda a chemical reaction helps to inflate a balloon.

Mrs. Kenny's class made a rainbow using skittles and water. They also made a volcano by mixing baking soda and vinegar .

Mrs. Mc Groarty's class used a variety of materials to create a rain cloud in a jar.

Mr. Mc Fadden's class discovered that they could put a pencil through a bag of water and nothing leaked. This is because ziploc bags are made of a polymer. Polymers have long chains of molecules that are flexible and these make a seal around the pencil that won't let water out.
